Real Madrid players have held a minute’s silence for the brother of manager Zinedine Zidane, who has died. Zidane left the club’s pre-season training camp in Canada this week, with the club only saying it was for personal reasons.
But now it has emerged the French legend’s brother Farid, 54, has passed away after being struck down by cancer. And this morning, the squad and backroom staff left in Montreal stood together to pay their own tribute.
Zidane had asked to leave the squad on Friday when he was informed his brother had been taken ill.
And his son, Luca Zidane, who had only just joined Racing Santander on loan, also requested he be allowed to leave his new club to be with his family. It is believed Farid passed away early this morning surrounded by his family.
